ok, so here are some pics from the 25th chequemegon 40 bike race 2007. This was the 3rd time I have done this race and my first race of the year too! A crazy busy weekend for sure. I drove up to Madison, WI and met up with my friend Tawnya and her freind Diedre (hope I spelled that right). I havent seen Tawnya in years, she flew in from Boulder, CO the day before. So we packed up Diedre's jeep and were on our way...
Thuresday/Friday pics

that was hotel #1 right, the pilot fish inn, down the street from Telemark Resort in Cable, WI

did some riding on some awsome trails. It was really really really cold. Dry, but cold. I was freezing, check out my hat that I streached over my helmet. I looked like I had a bunch of dreadlocks piled on my head. super rediculous, but anything to try and stay warm.
Saturday race day pics.

my view from the start. put my bike down at 7 am for a 10 am start.

amb ankle-bracelet transponders. high tech!

the race was brutal as usual. dry and cold. I finished in 3:15 which was better than I expected, but not as good as my 2001 time of 2:50.

Bob and Jim

James and Dana!

Gary Fisher was there too, I had to get a pic.

daaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnn those are some big wheels! 36"!!!!!!! craziest custom build bike that I have ever seen.
Sunday funday.
Now, Tawnya was signed up for the crit race the next day so I was all about giving the sunday funday events a try. crazy stuff like the log pull, clucket toss, hillclimb, bunny hop, and bike limbo. I was all amped up about the log pull, but I didn't do to great. It turned out my even was the bike limbo which I won with an official 39" and unofficial 36". Tawnya also won the womens limbo.

an early attempt. this pic is on the main chequmemgon web site, www.cheqfattire.com

a later attempt, note the backwards helmet to keep it low!

heres some kid I let use my bike cause he didn't have one and wanted to give it a try.

heres a pic of my bike. later nicknamed the "short bike". I lowered the seat, flipped the stem, and later let the air out of the fork to keep it low!

some pics of Tawnya

the 2007 mens and womens bike limbo champions and there top prize sram chains. backwards helmets are the keys to success.

so then we packed the jeep back up and headed south.

one last pic w/ Amy and stupid red cowboy Trek hats before hitting the road
